Symbolism

There are many legends of the DreamCatcher. Here is what it means to me and why I chose this name.

The origins: A Lakota story tells of how Iktomi (a spider) came and spoke to an old Lakota spiritual leader who was on a high mountain and had a vision. As he spoke, Iktomi the spider picked up the leader’s willow hoop and began to spin a web. As he continued to spin his web he spoke about the many forces of life, some good and some bad… the good forces steer you in the right direction while the bad forces steer you in the wrong direction.

When Iktomi finished speaking, he gave the leader the web and said 'The web is a perfect circle with a hole in the center. Use the web to help your people reach their goals, making good use of their ideas, dreams and visions. The web will filter your good ideas and the bad ones will be trapped and will not pass.

Passionate about the lifescience industry, I decided to come back full circle from being a scientist, venture capitalist and an entrepreneur to found DreamCatcherVentures and build with a team that is successful and has known this journey, both the good and the bad. We remain committed to this mission of building solid foundations for companies.
